Cutty Sark Archive Tours
Monday 26 September, 12.30-16.00 £35 / £23 RMG members New this September! Discover never before exhibited archival treasures with the Curator. Join us in the Caird Library (National Maritime Museum) for a voyage with Cutty Sark. Discover what it was like to work, live and sometimes die on board a ship that was to become world famous. You’ll be able to see log-books written by the ship’s captains; letters from the men who served on Cutty Sark and photographs taken while on board. The Cutty Sark Curator and Learning Manager will be on hand to take you through what happened to the men who were too drunk to work and much more besides. After the tour, we will walk over to Cutty Sark, where you will have an hour to explore the ship, before heading over to the Sammy Ofer Gallery underneath Cutty Sark’s gleaming hull for a special Afternoon Tea. Because what better place to have a cuppa than underneath the very ship that brought tea to Britain? Schedule: • 12.30-13.30: Archive Tour at the Caird Library (National Maritime Museum) • 13.30-13.45: walk to Cutty Sark • 13.45-14.45: self-guided tour around the ship • 14.45-16.00: Afternoon Tea at the Even Keel Café Afternoon Tea includes: • A pot of Cutty Sark black blend tea or other signature loose leaf tea • A freshly baked scone with jam & cream • A selection of Cutty cake bites • A selection of smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches * Tickets are £35 or £23 for RMG Members, including the Archive Tour at the Caird Library, admission to Cutty Sark and Afternoon Tea. *Please let the booking team know if you have any special diet requirements.

Discover the extraordinary life of Emma Hamilton, a rags-to-riches and back again story about a woman who rose from poverty to international celebrity, and on the way captured the heart of the Nation’s hero Admiral Horatio Nelson. This landmark exhibition charts Emma’s incredible rise and fall through 200 objects and exceptional fine art, while examining the prejudices encountered by a woman in the public eye then, and how her story might resonate in the fame-obsessed world we live in today.
